This homemade Moroccan Spice Blend is the perfect way to add a little flavor to your meats, fish, or even vegetables! Roast, grill, saute, marinate, or even simmer in a soup, this blend is versatile and will enhance any recipe you use it in.
Making spice blends to add to my meals is one of my favorite ways to add flavor without the extra calories. I love adding it to roasted veggies and even baked chicken!
The cumin, paprika, ginger, and garlic add earthy tones with a hint of spice from the cayenne. Combined together, these spices give a distinctive profile and taste. What’s better is that you can adjust the heat of the spice blend per your taste. And you get to control the amount of sodium as well. The husband and I love spicy food but the girls can only handle so much so I always make two batches so we’re all happy.
HOW MUCH DO I USE WHEN COOKING WITH THIS SPICE BLEND?
For Meats: Use about 1 Tbsp per pound of meat. You can even add some lemon juice and olive oil and marinate your meat for a more tender finish.
For Grains: Add 1 tsp to the liquid when cooking couscous. This is a great way to jazz up couscous when making Mediterranean meals.
For Veggies: Use 2 tsp with a drizzle of olive oil over chopped veggies then roast. I love eating my veggies like this especially with a dollop of hummus on top which melts into a dressing over piping hot, roasted veggies.
